Charts, Diagrams and Graphs
Spreadsheets and graphs are used to take sets of data and place them in a format that makes it in a realistic and understandable order and manner. Different charts are used for different data sets and purposes, based off of what kind of data is being shown, how the data relates to eachother, and the desired reaction the chart is made for. The purpose of a chart, graph or diagram is to represent data sets in an easy to understand and interesting manner, so even if the audience doesn't understand the formulas/mechanics of the data sets, they can see how the data is related and what it means. It is sometimes better to present data as graphic rather than numerical or with words because the numbers and words might be so long that they just distract the audience or confuse the audience from what the data really means. You can use a graph to map out how much money you pay per restaurant each month so you can see which is a better deal.
